Boys, girls hoops end seasons with loss
The Quincy boys and girls basketball teams finished their season last Saturday with losses at Toppenish.
The Jacks lost 59-36 while the Lady Jacks fell 57-33.
The boys ended play with a 6-12 record in Central Washington Athletic Conference play, leaving them tied with Grandview for eighth place in the league. Overall, the Jacks were 7-13.
The Jacks had high hopes early in the season. Their best week came in early January when they defeated Wapato 42-36, Toppenish 46-40 and Ephrata 67-55 — the latter was payback for the Tigers’ earlier win over Quincy.
The Jacks were paced this year by seniors Rafa Guzman, Nick Lopez, Gunnar Petersen, Gonzalo Guerrero, Nick Martinez, Phil Tobin and Johan Farias.
The girls team went winless in CWAC action, but defeated visiting Cascade 38-21 on Dec. 10 to end with a 1-19 record for the season. Seniors were Siria Avila, Kaitlin Ramsey, Liz Nielson, Heidi Bishop, Maggie Buenrostro and Maribel Alejandres.
