Amway expands its Quincy facility

Staff report
Three years after opening for production in Quincy, Amway has broken ground on an expansion at the local facility.
The 17,000-square-foot expansion, which is being built west of the plant, will allow Amway to relocate milling operations from Ephrata to the Quincy plant, said Keith Eppers, plant manager.
With the move, about nine more full-time jobs — eight in the milling facility and one in the current lab — will be added to the Quincy facility, Eppers added.
The milling facility in Ephrata that Amway currently contracts with is more than 30 years old, Eppers said. The expansion at the Quincy location will give Amway not only state-of-the-art equipment but also better control over the process, he said.
Eppers expects equipment to be installed in the expansion by end of year and trials to be held through 2017 before the milling facility is completely up and running.
