Kazda Art Space features work of oil painter

The Mary Kazda Art Space at the Quincy Library will present the oil paintings of portrait artist Allon Buob from July 12 to Sept. 13.

“A Child’s Summer,” a seasonal exhibit, is the work of Buob, a Coulee City resident. Though he specializes in portraits such as a small girl’s face decorated with face-painting or a child playing on monkey bars, he brings to life varied subjects such as children swinging, playing in the water, jumping on the trampoline and a girl holding a teddy bear. The exhibit also features a mountain scene and two pictures of ice skaters.

“As a portrait artist, I paint from reference photos, my own or customers,” Boub said. “Earlier, I painted mostly landscapes and seascapes in oil. Throughout my working life I have always taken some type of art class in many different forms and media. But I have found a style and passion for portraiture, so I’m always looking for new and unusual subjects.”

Buob has received various honors and awards for his unusual paintings. Two years ago he won the people’s choice award in the Chelan County Fair for that day.
