Looking back into Quincy's past: June 10
10 years ago: June 8, 2000
Nearly 50 people gathered together on Friday for a Peace March from Quincy High School to the Quincy Cemetery and back. At the cemetery, red and yellow balloons, Auggie Trevino's two favorite colors, were released into the air in his memory.

20 years ago: June 14, 1990
Three Quincy teachers, Jim Culp, Bob DeGabriele and Bea Weinand, are retiring this year.
30 years ago: June 12, 1980
Pat Stansfield won the captain's cup for the month in women's golf at Crescent Bar with a low net score of 68.
Kerry Gruen had a low net of 80 and Cathy Stewart had the fewest putts with 29.
40 years ago: June 11, 1970
Changes are being made at the Crescent Bar campground to help put the park on a paying basis. Tent usage is being discontinued to expand the trailer and camper spaces. The possibility of closing off the channel through the swimming area is being looked at. This would make it safer for swimmers.
50 years ago: June 9, 1960
Construction on Wanapum Dam is currently underway with 650 men on the job. The first sections of the spillway are being readied for concrete pouring. The project is scheduled for completion in 1964 with a peak workforce of 1,600 men.
60 years ago: June 9, 1950
It took Herb Martin's Deer Creek Construction Company just 25 hours to clear 100 acres of sagebrush this week at the USBR's new Burke development farm site, 17 miles south of Quincy. It may not be a world record, but Martin points out what the right kind of know-how and the proper equipment can do with this problem of clearing sagebrush from the Quincy Valley.
