Changes to household collections

Grant County Solid Waste has announced that latex paint, uncontaminated used motor oil, propane tanks and used automotive batteries will not be accepted at Grant County household hazardous waste collection events this year.

Several year-round collection sites for latex paint, uncontaminated used motor oil, propane tanks and automotive batteries are available in Grant County.

The CDSI Transfer and Recycling Center near Moses Lake accepts uncontaminated used motor oil, latex paint, five-gallon propane tanks and automotive batteries, according to the county.

The Ephrata Landfill and all drop-box sites recycle latex paint, uncontaminated used motor oil, automotive batteries, five-gallon propane tanks and uncontaminated antifreeze. Latex paint may also be placed in the garbage once it has been solidified and the lids removed. Empty camp stove-sized propane tanks may simply be thrown in the garbage.

There are several other collection sites available to recycle used automotive batteries, uncontaminated used motor oil and propane tanks.

For more information about year-round collection sites and household hazardous waste collection events, call Grant County Solid Waste at 754-6082.
