Transplant Fox enjoying Quincy
Cassandra Fox is planning a trip to Disneyland for her soon-to-be-3-year-old daughter, Brelynn.
Cassandra Fox grew up on the west side of the state, but over the past year she has grown to appreciate what the Quincy Valley has to offer.
“A small town like Quincy, I like it a lot better,” said Fox, who moved to Quincy from the Tri-Cities about a year ago. “It’s kind of removed from the rest of the world. The people here are nice, and I thought this would be a nice place to raise a family. Over on the west side, it’s all hustle and bustle. People are in such a hurry. It’s a slower pace of life here. It’s nice to not have to worry about things like crime (here).”
Fox grew up in Fircrest, a suburb of Tacoma. Her aunt and uncle moved to the Quincy Valley a couple of years ago, and soon after, her grandmother and grandfather bought a house here.

Fox lives with her grandmother, Joyce Fox, and attends Big Bend Community College. She eventually hopes to go into the medical field and specialize in radiology or ultrasound technology.
“I’d like to work with OB/GYNs and help with pregnancies,” she said. “I grew up around a lot of kids. My mom, aunts and grandmother all ran at-home daycares in Tacoma, so I’m used to being around children. I loved being pregnant, and it was always a joy to go to my ultrasound appointments. I know what I want to do and I’m going to work hard because I know where I want to be.”
Fox’s daughter, Brelynn, turns 3 years old on Saturday.
“We’re taking her to Disneyland for her birthday,” Fox said. “She’s real excited. A lot of her family members will be there. It’s going to be a big family party.”
Despite the fact that being a mother and student take up a fair amount of her time, Fox still enjoys outdoor activities.
“I like being outside. I like the sunny weather,” she said. “I like to bring out the ATVs and ride on the property. I like camping in the summertime, fishing, stuff like that. And I like taking pictures.”
