Bulldogs top Jacks to open 2015

The Quincy High School basketball teams kicked off their post-holiday schedule with a pair of losses to Ellensburg over the weekend and Selah on Tuesday.,

Both squads will be be back action this weekend.  They host Wapato on Friday and travel to Toppenish on Saturday.  The girls games will start at 5:45 p.m. and the boys will start at 7:30 p.m.

Ellensburg 57, Quincy 41
The Jacks (1-5) jumped out to a 15-12 first-quarter lead against the Bulldogs (5-1), behind 11 points from Kevin Flores. But the lead did not last as the Quincy scoring slowed down and Ellensburg started to heat up with the perimeter shooting of Xander Orejudos, who had four three-pointers and 14 points for the game.
Ellensburg’s Garrett Hull led all scorers with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Quincy: Phillip Tobin scored 10 points, Mike Diaz had six points and five rebounds, and Mark Horning added six points and four rebounds.
Selah 53, Quincy 45
The Vikings behind a double-double by Dustin Yates to help defeat Quincy on Tuesday 53-45. Yates had 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Jacks were led by Johan Farias (11), Flores (8) and Horning (7).

Lady Jacks

Ellensburg 77, Quincy 9
Ellensburg (6-0) showed why they are ranked fifth in the state after dropping in 35 first-quarter points over the weekend. By the time Siria Avila scored for Quincy midway through the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs had a 39-0 lead.
Ellensburg was led by Madison Moffat (14), Kassidy Malcolm (13) and Hanna Gibson (11).
Others: Joanna Santana 4, Rachel Faw 2.
Selah 59, Quincy 13
Quincy highlights: Santana scored five points and Rachel Faw had four points.
