*POSITION OVERVIEW: This is a position within a collective bargaining unit that reports to the Animal Shelter Manager (hereinafter “manager”) assists with community education regarding the importance of licensing; promotes responsible pet ownership and pet population; and assists the manager in development of community problem solving techniques regarding nuisance animals. Assists the Manager in operation of the City owned Quincy Animal Shelter (hereinafter “shelter”) responsibilities to include, but not limited to, building and grounds maintenance, budget, adoption programs, pet licensing as per City ordinance or direction, volunteers, and community service workers, and all related duties.
*QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and, six months to one year related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience; or training and related experience that is acceptable to the Quincy Police Department. • Able to obtain the Legend Drug/Euthanasia Certification. • Possess valid driver’s license upon hire date. • Authorize and pass a full background check. • Minimum of 18 years of age. This position will involve a six-month probationary period, during which time the employee may be dismissed for any reason at the sole discretion of the City of Quincy.

*POSITION OVERVIEW: This is a position within a collective bargaining unit that reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Mechanic provides fleet management services to the Maintenance Department that include equipment rental, purchase, maintenance, repair and rebuilding of City vehicles as well as fabrication building and welding to customize vehicles and equipment. Performs duties of Utility Worker as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide routine serving of vehicles, including lube and oil, brakes, emission testing and other automotive systems to protect the asset and keep vehicles operating. • Perform all possible repairs and rebuilding (except bodywork and paint) as a result of vehicle checklists, subject to priority of needs, staff availability and cost. • Customize new and existing vehicles and associated equipment with such things as toolboxes and Police Equipment to meet City needs within budget guidelines. • Collect and arrange disposal of hazardous waste materials from City departments and for automotive engine oil from citizen customers. • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, routine servicing, winterizing and tune-ups. • Prepare surplus equipment for auction or disposal. • Prioritize, schedule and complete routine and demand vehicle maintenance services and repairs. Identify measure of effectiveness for Fleet Services products. • Analyze reliability and efficiency of the fleet. Participate in future purchases and equipment rental fund budget and accounting. •Participate in work as described in the Public Works Utility Worker job description.

Completion of a vocationaltechnical training program and/or equipment manufacturer-sponsored repair training could substitute for the experience requirements. ASE Certification preferred.
