Easter services page will be next week in the QVPR
Look for the Easter services page in the Post-Register next week. The following local churches are having Maundy Thursday or Good Friday services:
— Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, 214 Deacon Ave. in George: Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m. on March 24; Good Friday service at noon on March 25; and Good Friday Tenebrae Service at 7 p.m. on March 25.
— Quincy First Presbyterian Church, 715 N. Central Ave.: Maundy Thursday service and communion at 5:30 p.m. on March 24 and Good Friday service at 6 p.m. on March 25.
— Quincy Free Methodist Church, 301 I St. S.W.: Good Friday open communion, served 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 25.
wSt. Paul Lutheran Church, 716 3rd Ave. S.E.: Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. on March 24 and Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on March 25.
— St. Pius X Catholic Church, 805 N. Central Ave.: Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 6 p.m. on March 24; Misa de la Cena del Señor at 7:30 p.m. on March 24; Stations of the Cross at 5 p.m. followed by the Celebration of the Passion of the Lord at 5:30 p.m. on March 25; Via Crucis at 5:30 p.m. desde la “torre del agua” on March 25; and Celebración de la Pasión del Señor at 7 p.m. on March 25.
Bring the kids to one of these community egg hunts
The kids have three opportunities to celebrate spring and the Easter holiday with three separate egg hunts in the Quincy Valley.
wQuincy Valley Medical Center kicks off the fun on March 24 with its annual egg hunt. The hospital event starts at 3:30 p.m. and is for children ages 2 to 6 years old.
The Thursday event will include egg dying and decorating as well as drinks and snacks available. Parents should bring their cameras to get a photo of their children with the Easter Bunny.
wOn March 26, the Georgettes also will host their annual Easter egg hunt at George Community Park. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a bake sale on the front porch of the George Community Hall, 403 W. Montmorency Blvd.
The egg hunt gets underway at 9 a.m. It is for children up to 10 years old.
wAnd the Quincy Moose Lodge is having its annual Easter egg hunt on March 26 at 10 a.m. The event is on the lawn of East Park, off of Highway 28. It is for toddlers to fourth-graders.
