Hospital hires interim CEO
A former administrator of the Quincy Valley Medical Center’s returns to the hospital this week to serve as its interim CEO.
At a special meeting on Wednesday, the hospital’s board of directors voted to hire Jerry Hawley as its interim CEO. Hawley, for the time being, replaces out-going CEO Mehdi Merred, whose last day is Friday.
Merred and his family are moving to France, where Merred is originally from, to start a touring-related business. Merred has been with the hospital 10 years.
Hawley, a consultant living in the Seattle area, is no stranger to Quincy. He was initally hired as an interim administrator in 1993 and then made the administrator of both the Quincy hospital and the Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata in 1994. He left the hospital in August 1997, unexpectedly quitting at a board meeting, according to a past QVPR story.
The closing date for applications for the permanent CEO position is Jan. 22.
