Host a block party for National Night Out events

Coming up the first week of August is the sixth annual National Night Out event in Quincy as well as the neighborhood block parties that follow the next day.
The local National Night Out celebration is held in conjunction with Quincy Youth Action’s Family Fun in the Park. The free event, 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Reiman-Simmons Historical Park, includes many games, food, prizes and exhibits.
The following evening, block parties are held throughout town as a way for neighbors to get to know one another. If you would like to be a block leader who hosts a neighborhood party, pick up a block party packet at the Quincy Police Department. The department has $50 gift cards available to assist with the costs of hosting a block party.
If you are interested in having a booth at National Night Out on Aug. 1 or hosting a block party on Aug. 2, contact Officer Alex Bushy at 797-3967 or abushy@quincypd.org.
