Irrigation district announces water turn-off dates

The Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District has scheduled final dates for the irrigation season.
Those final dates are:
• Oct. 23: Last day for water delivery changes.
• Oct. 25: Last full day of water delivery.
• Oct. 26: Turn-off date for water at the head of the West Canal.
The Oct. 26 turn-off date marks the end of the 2015 irrigation season. Quincy district water users who have questions about the shut-off schedule can contact their ditchrider or their area watermasters.
In other irrigation district news, the annual election of the irrigation district will be held on Dec. 8. Two director seats, both of which are three-year terms, are up in the election. Those seats cover the district’s Division 5 and Division 6.
Division 5 covers all of Range 27 and south to Frenchman Hills. William Stevens currently serves as director of Division 5.
Division 6 covers the portion of Royal Slope area lying east of Dodson Road, north to include that portion of Block 80 lying east of Dodson Road, and south to the district boundary. Ko Weyns currently serves as director of Division 6.
People interested in running for the open seats must file a petition of nomination by Nov. 2. Petitions are due before 5 p.m. to the Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District’s Quincy office, 1720 S. Central Ave., off of Highway 281.
Petitions of nomination also are available at the Quincy office.
Anyone seeking information about the division they are eligible to vote in can call the Quincy office at 787-3591 or the Royal City office at 346-2301.
Polling locations will be announced after the closing of the nominations, the district reported..
