Jerry Mushlitz, 81, a longtime resident of Quincy, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home.
Jerry was born on July 14, 1934, in Moscow, Idaho. He attended and graduated from Hanson High School in 1952 and went on to play football at the University of Idaho in Moscow.
Jerry met his future wife in the first grade. He later married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Jones, on Aug. 23, 1953. Soon after marrying, they packed up their bags and moved to Quincy to start their life together. Jerry and Barbara resided for 62 years in Quincy, where they raised a wonderful family together; their children have many special memories of spending time and having fun with their dad.
Jerry farmed and later started Mushlitz Custom Combining in partnership with his son, Allan. Jerry was a hard worker with a big heart for those in need and especially enjoyed the morning visitors at his shop.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; a son, Allan (Debbie); two daughters, Cindy Decker of Wenatchee and Lisa Anderson of Pendleton; three grandchildren, Chase Decker, Brady Mushlitz and Lindsey Mushlitz; a great-grandson, Landon Mushlitz; and his little black doxie, Bow.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Idle Hour Eatery & Spirits in Quincy. If desired, memorials may be made to the Quincy Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
