Lawrence (Larry) Richardson passed away peacefully in his home on Aug. 14, 2015. He was 93.
The son of Neal and Genevieve, he was born Sept. 24, 1921, on the family farm in Fairfield. There he spent his childhood until he graduated in 1939.
After attending a year at Gonzaga University, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a radio technician on numerous islands throughout the South Pacific. In 1944, while on leave in Rockville, Md., he married his wife Eleanor, who was serving as a Wave in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, Larry received his degree from Gonzaga University and then he and Eleanor returned to farming near Fairfield, where they began raising their four children.
In 1961 they moved to Quincy, where Larry was a prominent member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church Parish and played a major role in the church’s reconstruction after a fire in 1984. He was a member of the Quincy Rotary Club, the Moose Lodge and the Wenatchee Elks Club.
Lawrence is survived by his three children, Laura Ward, Greg Richardson and Royce (Doug) Richardson; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, six months prior, and his son Larry in 1972.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday. Aug. 24, 2015, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy.
