Police searching for ‘person of interest’ in shooting
Police continue to search for a “person of interest” in Friday night’s shooting in Quincy.
Quincy police would like to speak to Adrian A. Diaz, 19, of Quincy, who is believed to have information regarding the shooting.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to called Officer Stormy Baughman or Detective Jorge Trujillo at 787-2222.
At about 11:41 p.m. on Friday, police responded to calls of shots fired in the 300 block of A Street Southeast. Three men were seen running from the area, a press release states.
Sergio Mendoza, 19, of Quincy was coming out of an apartment there when he allegedly was shot at several times. Mendoza was struck once, Quincy Police Chief Bob Heimbach said.
Upon being shot, Mendoza drove himself to Quincy Valley Medical Center. On Monday, he was in satisfactory condition at Central Washington Hospital.
“We don’t believe this is a stranger-on-stranger event,” Heimbach said. The incident may be gang related, he said.
