Scouting Report: Jacks vs. Wildcats
Jacks vs. Toppenish
7:15 p.m., Jan. 8
The Wildcats are 4-6 overall and 3-5 in Central Washington Athletic Conference basketball action. They are coming off a 79-71 win over East Valley on Tuesday.
“Our style has been consistent — pressure the ball and control the tempo,” said Toppenish coach Joseph Mesplie.
He noted Quincy’s victory over league-leading Wapato on Tuesday night.
“That did not surprise me,” Mesplie said. “(Quincy’s) record is not indicative of how good they are.”
Toppenish’s record is misleading, too. The Wildcats have lost four games by four points or less, including two losses by a single point.
Toppenish isn’t particularly tall. Only three players are 6-feet or more, with senior forward Tyson Hull the biggest at 6-foot-3. Teammates Rian Whalawitsa, a 6-foot-1 senior forward, and 6-foot-2 senior forward Austin Ide are the others 6-footers.
