Softball splits with Toppenish

The Lady Jacks (3-9) split with Toppenish on Saturday, winning the softball opener 16-6. The Lady Wildcats (5-7) won the second game 17-7.
Quincy cranked out 14 hits in the opener and Maddison Smith kept Toppenish at bay, allowing just eight hits and picking up nine strikeouts in seven innings of work. She helped herself at the plate going 2-for-4 with a double and three runs, while Hannah Lindell went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs and Stephanie Mendoza went 3-for-5 with two runs.
Toppenish also had eight errors compared to Quincy’s three. The Lady Jacks had 11 hits and scored seven runs in the second game, but mistakes and 13 hits by Toppenish led to 17 runs. Lindell went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, Mendoza was 3-for-3 and Smith was 1-for-2
with a double.
