Spray-painted car leads to suspects

Staff report
A bad paint job landed two suspected car thieves behind bars over the weekend.
On Saturday, local police received reports that a home in the 600 block of N Street Southwest had been broken into. The couple living there had been gone overnight.
Among the items taken was a gray 2015 Honda CRV, said Quincy Police Chief Bob Heimbach.
At about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Quincy Officer Austin Keys then spotted a suspicious-looking black Honda.
When Keys pulled the driver over, it became apparent that the car had been spray-painted black, Heimbach said.
Arrested were a 17-year-old male and Alejandro Madrigal Jr., 19, of Quincy.
Madrigal was arrested on charges of residential burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was not listed in the Grant County jail inmate roster on Wednesday.
Heimbach said police are looking into where the suspects may have gotten all that spray paint.
