Stache for Cash

Staff report

Yahoo, Turner Construction and the Pearly Whites Junior Fundraising Guild of Quincy teamed up last month to raise money for the Seattle Children’s Hospital in a most unusual way.

Employees were challenged to let their facial hair grow (leg hair for the ladies). Employees raised $3,400 by seeking donations for their hair-raising efforts. This year, 29 employees, including three women, participated. In four years, Yahoo employees have raised nearly $13,000 for the children’s hospital through the Mustache for Kids event.

The Pearly Whites Junior Fundraising Guild, which consists of seven local teens, has raised nearly $70,000 in seven years for the children’s hospital. In the front row, from left to right, are guild members Piper Horning, Kendall Horning, Chloe Ovenell, Loran Goninan and Anyssa Ayala. Member Tori Johnson was unable to attend.
