Trout Derby results

The 6th Annual QVTA Trout Derby, held last Saturday at Burke Lake, drew about 250 people this year, said event organizer Pat Curran.

“We had a beautiful day,” Curran said. “It got really nice in the afternoon and was in the low 60s.”

The big prize winner of the day was Amie Durfee of Quincy who took home a new fishing boat with an electric motor and a trailer. Durfee was one of five adults who pulled in the biggest catches of the day. The names of the top five were placed in a hat, with the winner determined by random draw. Those five contenders were:

John Schultz, 18.5 inches

Josh Decker, 17.5 inches

Sam Gonzalez, 17.25 inches

Durfee, 16.75 inches

Tera Redwine, 16.25 inches

Joel Hendry earned top total cumulative weight at 8 pounds.

In the youth categories, the youth with the overall largest catch was Alia Goodrich at 16.75 inches. All the youth winners were:

Boys up to 8 years old: Jackson Porter, 16.25 inches

Girls up to 8 years old: Alia Goodrich, 16.75 inches

Boys ages 9-15: First place was Leo Garcia (16 inches) and second place was Deyano Blancas (15.38 inches)
