Wildcats score win over Jacks
For the second straight week the Jacks lost a heartbreaker in the final seconds. This time a 21-7 lead through three quarters was erased by a pair of touchdown runs by Toppenish (2-2, 3-2) running back Cesar Ramirez (33 carries, 135 yards). The final nail was a two-point conversion after Ramirez’s second score with just 22 seconds remaining in the game.
Toppenish won 22-21.
The game’s first score came on a 95-yard punt return by Saul Godina in the first quarter, after which the Jacks took control with a touchdown in each of the first three quarters.
The first score came on a 23-yard pass from Kaeden Murphy (4-5-1-148, 2 TD) to Travis Harris. It was the only catch by the junior all game. The PAT by Johan Farias knotted the game at 7-7. Quincy’s second score was a 33-yard run by Harris (9-38, TD). The kick by Farias gave Quincy a 14-7 lead. The final score was a 62-yard pass from Murphy to Carlos Solorio (2-74, TD).
Quincy also relied on the running of Ullyses Ramirez (12-102), who averaged 8.5 yards per carry.
The fourth quarter was owned by the Wildcats and Ramirez. He scored on runs of 4 yards and 1 yard. The two-point conversion was a pass from Godina to Austin Ide.
