City considers 2 annexation requests
The Quincy City Council on Tuesday received two intents to annex, one from the Quincy School District and another from a local couple.
James and Kim McCreary of Quincy are asking that the city consider annexing 40.3 acres on the city’s southwest side, off of Seventh Avenue Southwest.
The intent of the annexation was unclear.
The Quincy School District also is asking that the city consider annexing 58 acres on the city’s north side. The property is where the school district plans to build a new high school.
Voters passed a $108 million bond measure in February. About $80 million of that bond will be used to pay for the new high school.
The city now has 60 days to set a date with the initiating parties to determine if the proposed annexations will be accepted, rejected or geograpphically modified.
