POSITION OPEN: Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer
CLOSING DATE: September 20, 2019 at 4:00 pm
SALARY: $60,000 annually
NATURE OF WORK: This is a non-union, Fair Labor Standards Act excluded position responsible for the application, interpretation and enforcement of the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, Sign Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, Energy Code, and the Quincy Municipal Code as it pertains to zoning and building, including statutory requirements for permit issuance and inspections, and performing related work as required under direction of the Building Official.
Perform activities related to the administration and implementation of the City’s Code Enforcement Program. Manage field investigations involving violations of the Municipal Code. Collaborate with residents of a diverse bilingual population to achieve voluntary compliance with Municipal Codes. When necessary, work with the City Attorney to issue uniform infraction citations and serve as the City’s representative in District Court regarding code enforcement issues.
• Washington State Driver’s License.
• Possess a High School diploma or GED.
• Computer literacy and skill in report writing.
• Reading construction drawings, understanding terms and mathematics pertaining to construction.
• Certification as a Residential Building Inspector within one year of employment.
• Obtain additional Certifications as time permits including but not limited to: Residential Plumbing Inspector, Residential Mechanical Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector, Commercial Plumbing Inspector, Commercial Mechanical Inspector and Residential Plans Examiner.
