Dorotha L. Harsh

Dorotha Louise Harsh, 82, of Ephrata passed away quietly on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at McKay Healthcare in Soap Lake.
She was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., on May 12, 1933, to Lester and Agnes Foster. She spent her early years and attended school in McGrew, Neb., and later received her GED from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake.
She married Raymond L. Harsh in Kimball, Neb., on May 25, 1950. They had a long and wonderful marriage of over 65 years, living in Mitchell, Neb.; Kansas; Colorado and Washington, including Othello, Mattawa, Quincy, back to Othello and retiring in Ephrata in 1992.
Dorotha worked for the Othello School District as a school bus driver for special needs children for 12 years. She worked various other jobs but none as rewarding. Dorotha also volunteered with Special Olympics. She was a very talented seamstress and could sew just about anything – curtains and pillows; stuffed animals; children’s, women’s and men’s clothing; wedding dresses and formals; and even a cover skirt to go around a 27-foot motorhome.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Harsh of Soap Lake; brothers Jim Foster of Richland, and Les and Jerry Foster of Nebraska; and her parents of Gering, Neb.
Dorotha is survived by her husband Raymond of Ephrata; daughter Linda Meloy and her husband Dennis of Peshastin; daughter-in-law Betty Harsh of Keizer, Ore.; sister-in-law Claudia Foster of Pasco; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No services will be held at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date with a site to be determined.
