Draw the Line returns on Tuesday
Young people and the Quincy Communities that Care coalition will join together on Tuesday to draw a line between youth and substance abuse.
The annual Let’s Draw the Line event is 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Quincy Valley Business & Conference Center, 115 F St. S.W. The public is invited.
Let’s Draw the Line is a community rally against substance abuse among young people. Communities and organizations across the nation participate every year with individual events. Quincy’s CTC has been participating for at least five years.
This year, the Quincy event features several informational booths set up at the conference center. The booths will focus on substance abuse prevention and mental health resources available, said Dayana Ruiz, CTC director.
At 5:30 p.m., participants will go outside to the sidewalk, where they will hold a banner to bring attention to their efforts from drivers as they pass by the center. The banner is a Quincy tradition.
Ruiz wants to see the event bring more awareness to the topic of substance abuse among young poeple. And, for young people, Let’s Draw the Line shows them some resources available to them, she added.
Joining the CTC in the event are Youth Action Interact and the Quincy Community Health Center.
