‘Hounds knock out Jacks
The Jacks needed a win in Grandview last Friday, but an early seven-point lead evaporated as did a shot at the postseason.
Quincy lost to the Greyhounds 46-40, while the following night they lost to Ellensburg 50-26. The Jacks sit at 4-12 in CWAC play, and 5-13 overall. Quincy travels to Wapato on Thursday and caps their season with a home game on Friday against Selah.
Ellensburg 50, Quincy 26
The Bulldogs (10-5) clamped down on defense and held the Jacks to four points in the first and fourth quarters combined.
Mark Horning led the Jacks in the loss with eight points and six rebounds, while Rafael Guzman added six points and Mike Diaz had five points. Others: Johan Farias 2, Eric Navarro 2, Daniel Garcia 2, Ricky Saldana 1.
The Bulldogs were led by Coleman Sparling with 15 and Garrett Hull with 12 points.
Grandview 46, Quincy 40
The Jacks jumped out to an 11-4 first-quarter lead and entered the fourth quarter clinging to a 28-25 lead. But the Greyhounds (7-8) scored 21 points in the final frame to win by six points. Gunnar Chronis led Grandview with 19 points.
