Lady Jacks defend home court

Quincy wins own Invite
The Lady Jacks cruised through pool play on Saturday at their own volleyball tournament, then made quick work of Ephrata and exacted revenge against the Lady Huskies en route to the Quincy Invite title.
It wasn’t all roses for the senior-laden squad. Last Thursday they lost a 5-set league match in Othello, but rebounded with a win over Toppenish on Tuesday to roll their CWAC record to 2-1 and bump their overall record to 6-2.
“If we play (Othello) in the postseason we know we can beat them,” said senior blocker Heidi Bishop. “We got the last word I guess.
“We wanted revenge.”

It took most of the first set for the Lady Jacks to wake from their slumber on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats (0-4, 0-8) matched Quincy point-for-point until a dig by Ramsey led to a kill by Thomsen and a 19-15 lead. Quincy outscored Toppenish 6-1 the rest of the way to win the first set 25-16.
“We get into our own heads,” Bishop said.
She said the Lady Jacks enter games against the bottom-tier teams over confident and need to settle in before they play to their level. It is a contrast to how they play against the upper team.
“When we go against teams like East Valley and Ellensburg, we know we have to come out and play hard.”
