Looking Back, Nov. 9, 1961: State Moose officers entertained in Quincy
Nineteen state officers and their wives were entertained here last weekend by Quincy Moose Lodge No. 1925. At a business meeting, beginning with breakfast Sunday, the program for the coming year’s activities was set up.
It was decided to hold the mid-winter convention at Moscow, Idaho March 9-10-11. A ritualistic con-test will be held at that time. An announcement was made that Director General Paul D. Schmitz from Mooseheart will visit the Cowlitz Valley Lodge at Longview on Dec. 2. All lodges in the state will enroll new members in his honor during that week.
The state officers and their wives were entertained at a dinner Saturday night at the Turf restaurant. Joe Black was toastmaster for this meeting. State President Walter Knowles addressed the group, af-ter which nine new Quincy candidates were enrolled at the Pioneer School Auditorium. The Quincy officers and their wives entertained their guests at the Moose Hall.
The Quincy Lodge will begin “Operation Santa Claus” in cooperation with the local fire department the week after Thanksgiving. Moose members will do the collecting and the firemen will make repairs on the toys and games donated. Anyone with toys to contribute may leave them with either group.
