Looking Back, Oct. 20, 1977: School directors approve requests
Quincy school directors approved requests from delegations of parents and students at the board meeting Tuesday night.
The eighth-grade English class of Rita Atwood presented a project of cleaning up the storage area behind the bus garage, which is used for snow removal equipment, building materials and other miscellaneous items. The students wanted to improve the looks of the area by cleaning it up and making it more appealing. The board authorized the superintendent, Dr. Ted Johnson to meet with the students and work out the details on improving the storage area.
Representatives of the high school singing group, Spectrum, and their director Stu Hunt and some parents asked for permission to take a 10-day trip to Oregon, southwestern Washington and California in May and give concerts in numerous schools along the way. The funds for the trip will be raised by the students and they will stay in homes of students at the various towns in which they perform.
