Public invited to join ‘guiding principles’ school tour
The Quincy School District invites the public to join officials on a tour of its school buildings next week.
The April 22 tour will be of school buildings on the district’s construction project list.
Voters in February passed a $107 million bond measure to help complete a $117 million construction and renovation project in the coming years. Projects include not only renovations at existing schools but also the construction of a new high school.
The tours next week will help the school district formulate its “guiding principles” for the construction projects, said Tom Harris, facilities director at the school district. Each school visited will have an opportunity to give a presentation to the project architect and participants. Information will help the architect in the design phase of the project, Harris said.
This tour model is one that has been used in school districts around the state that are in the planning stages of construction projects, Harris said.
The all-day tour begins at 8 a.m. at the QSD transportation building, where an agenda will be handed out. The tour isn’t expected to end until about 5 p.m.
