Quincy FFA members try for State spots

Members of the Quincy FFA wrapped up their District IX Leadership Development Events last week, and when all the points were tallied and banners awarded, 20 members had qualified to move on to State competitions.
In individual competition, Taran Brown finished fourth in the Employment Skills LDE, and Cooper Raap placed third in Extemporaneous Public Speaking. Cooper and Jane Kennedy also competed at the District level in Employment Skills. Michael Spence and Gavin Sahli also competed in Extemp.

In team competition, two Parliamentary Procedure teams, the Agricultural Issues team, the First Year CDE team, and Conduct of Chapter Meetings teams all advanced to State. The First Year Team placed first in District and was made up of Tucker Ronnish, Marissa Linscott, Hannah Thompson, Ryann Harrington, and Kirsta Kirk. They, along with Shannon Workinger, earned a third-place finish in Conduct of Chapter Meetings. The Ag Issues team placed second at District with Gavin Sahli, Cooper Raap, Taran Brown, and Jane Kennedy. The Parliamentary Procedure teams of Avery Vanderveen, Paden Wallace, Anne Safe, Madison Lee, Patrick White, Jordan Clark, Joel Faw, Valerie Cardenas, Sarahi Dominguez, and Dave Sulisto placed second and third.
Teams are also preparing for the Meats Evaluation, Food Science and Technology, and Agriculture Communications and will be joining the other qualifiers at State FFA Convention in Pullman, May 8-12. In addition, Quincy FFA members will compete in the Agriculture Mechanics CDE, Environmental Natural Resources CDE, Horse Evaluation CDE and Livestock Evaluation CDE in the weeks prior to the State FFA Convention.
