Quincy runners remain competitive in Pasco

Two Quincy runners finished in the top 10 at the Pasco Bulldog Invite on Sept. 29.
Jane Kennedy finished in eighth place with a time of 21 minutes, 53.32 seconds. And Bryn Heikes finished in ninth place with 21:55.03 minutes.
First place went to Cashmere’s Sydney Smith with 20:31.53 minutes.
A third female runner for Quincy, Anne Safe, finished in 51st place with 26:47.65 minutes, a season-best mark for her.
Among boys, Gonzalo Birrueta finished in 12th place with a time of 18:04.51 minutes. First place went to Connell’s Nolan Chase with 16:54.14 minutes.
Quincy’s Christopher Quintero finished in 47th place with 19:54.87 minutes. Teammate Omar Ramos finished in 64th place with 22:03.80 and Damian Castillo finished right behind him with a time of 22:05.38.
The Jacks’ Jesus Buenrostro finished in 73rd place with a time of 23:13.56 minutes.
Overall, the Jacks’ boys team finished in 10th place with 250 points. First place went to Connell, with 39 points.
Quincy’s Ecduy Gorillo participated in the junior varsity race for grades 9-10, and finished in 33rd place with a time of 21:51.68 minutes, a personal record for him. Israel Perez finished in 36th place with a time of 21:57.80.
In the junior varsity race for grades 11-12, Daniel Castillo finished in 29th place with a time of 22:46.71, a personal best for him. Victor Mata finished in 38th place with a time of 24:01.25 minutes, a PR mark for him, as well.
Next up for the Jacks is a home meet Thursday Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. against Selah and Prosser, and a trip to Leavenworth for an invitational meet at Ski Hill Oct. 6, at noon.
