Recycling event brings out old TVs
The Quincy Valley Lions Club e-cycle event held on April 21 drew a good turnout again this year, club members on-site said Saturday afternoon.
About 65 TVs, 11 computers and five monitors had been dropped off, stacked on pallets, wrapped and loaded in a truck trailer. Most of the TVs collected were of the old cathode-ray tube type, while a few were flat screen models.
A few minutes before the end of the event at 2 p.m., Saturday, the trailer was full.
The annual electronics recycling event does not make money for the club, but is held by Quincy Valley Lions as a service to the community, said club member Kristin Roberts.
The event was held at the City of Quincy shop on A Street NW, on the same day as the city’s Spring Clean-up event, in another part of the city shop yard.
