Two people die on icy Grant County roads
Karen L. Bock, 73, a passenger in a car traveling on White Trail Road died in a one-vehicle rollover accident on Nov. 22.
Carrie Bock, 39, of Wenatchee, was driving a 2004 Lexus westbound on White Trail Road, otherwise known as Road 5 NW, at about Road T NW when she lost control on the icy road, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle rolled over and stopped on its top in an irrigation canal.
Bock suffered serious injuries and was transported to Central Washington Hospital. She was later moved to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to GCSO.
Karen L. Bock died at the scene.
Two other passengers, Quynton Hamilton, 19, and a boy, age 7, both of Wenatchee, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center.
The Sheriff’s Office said excessive speed was a factor in the accident and all the vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts.
The next day, Nov. 23, a Royal City woman died in a one-vehicle rollover about five miles south of Interstate 90.
Autumn Kynaston, 31, was driving a 1999 Lincoln Navigator southbound on Dodson Road around 12:30 a.m. when she lost control on the icy road, according to GCSO. The vehicle rolled three-and-a-half times, coming to rest in a field.
Kynaston was ejected and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
Excessive speed and alcohol contributed to the accident, according to GCSO.
